Discord Custom Status Generator
A custom status sits under your name in every server you share with someone, so it is the one piece of profile text people actually read. This generator produces status lines by mood and theme, from gaming and coding to soft aesthetic text, and keeps each one short enough to display without truncation.

- Streaming: Shows a purple badge with "Streaming on Twitch/YouTube". Requires a valid stream URL.
- Listening to: Shows "Listening to [Spotify Track or Song Name]".
- Watching: Shows "Watching [Anime/Movie/Server Name]". Great for moderation and security bots.
- Competing in: Shows "Competing in [Tournament/Esports]".
Custom status, presence, and the 128 character limit
A custom status is capped at 128 characters, separate from the 190-character About Me field, and it appears under your name in the member list of every shared server as well as on your profile. Because it is visible without anyone opening your profile, it is the piece of profile text most people actually read, and the short limit is the main design constraint.
You can attach an emoji alongside the text and set an expiry, from an hour up to a day or never. The expiry is the underused option: a status describing something temporary that you forget to remove ages badly, and setting it to clear itself avoids the common situation of an out-of-date status sitting on a profile for months.
Custom status is distinct from activity presence, which is what Discord detects from a game or application and shows as Playing or Listening. Setting a custom status does not replace detected activity; both can appear. Rich presence integrations with detailed state come from the application itself through the Discord API rather than from anything you can type.
Common problems and fixes
- The status is cut off in the member list
The member list is narrow and truncates well before 128 characters. Keep it short. - The status did not clear when expected
The expiry is set at the time you create the status. Check it was not left on Never. - An emoji does not show for everyone
Custom server emoji in a status require Nitro to display for others. Standard emoji always work.
