Layouts that read well in a narrow profile popout
The profile popout is narrow, which is the constraint most bio layouts ignore. A design that looks balanced when composed in a wide text editor wraps badly once it is in the actual field, and the 190-character limit means there is no room to recover with extra spacing. Short stacked lines survive the narrow column far better than a single long sentence.
Line breaks count toward the limit, and so does every decorative character. A divider that looks light can cost fifteen characters, which is nearly a tenth of the field. The layouts that hold up allocate most of the budget to content and use one or two small decorative elements, rather than framing a very short piece of text in a heavy border.
Mobile is the other check. A significant share of your profile views come from phones, where the popout is narrower still and font fallback may substitute for any unusual characters you used. Testing a layout on a phone before settling on it catches both problems, and it is the only reliable way to know a bio looks the way you intended.
