Discord Badges Viewer and Flag Decoder
Every badge on a Discord profile corresponds to a bit in the account's public_flags integer, which is why two accounts with identical badges return the same number. This page lists each badge with how it is earned and decodes any public_flags value into the badges it represents.

How to use the Badges Viewer and Flag Decoder
- Paste a public_flags integer to decode it into badge names.
- Or scroll the directory to see how each badge is obtained.
- Check which badges are still obtainable versus permanently retired.
Types of Discord Badges
Badges in Discord represent contributions, roles, subscriptions, and milestones:
- Instant Free Badges: HypeSquad Houses (Bravery, Brilliance, Balance) can be unlocked instantly by taking the in-app quiz. Active Developer can be claimed by developers with an active bot.
- Subscription Badges: Discord Nitro and Server Booster badges upgrade visually over time (from 1 month up to 24+ months).
- Legacy / Rare Badges: Early Supporter, Early Verified Bot Developer, and Discord Certified Moderator are retired and cannot be acquired by new accounts.
- Staff & Partner Badges: Reserved for Discord employees, bug bounty hunters, and partnered server owners.
Badges, public_flags, and which are still obtainable
Profile badges are stored as bits in the account's public_flags integer, which is why the same badge set always produces the same number. Decoding that integer gives you the exact badges an account holds, and it is how bots and profile tools render badges without special access. Nitro and boost badges are handled separately from public_flags, so a decode will not show those.
A meaningful share of badges can no longer be earned. Early Supporter closed to new accounts, and several developer and partner programme badges are either retired or in a state where new grants are rare. Others remain obtainable: HypeSquad house badges through the quiz, Active Developer through maintaining an application with a recent command execution, and Bug Hunter through Discord's testing programme.
Badges are also a light verification signal. A staff or partner badge is issued by Discord and cannot be faked in the client, so an account claiming affiliation without the corresponding badge is worth questioning. That said, badges say nothing about intent, and impersonation usually relies on names and avatars rather than any attempt to fake a badge.
Common problems and fixes
- A badge does not appear in the decode
Nitro and boost badges are not stored in public_flags and must be read from separate fields. - A badge you earned is missing
Some badges take time to propagate, and Active Developer requires re-verification annually. - An account displays an unexpected badge
Check the raw public_flags value, since some client themes and browser extensions render badges that Discord does not issue.
Frequently asked questions
How do I get the Active Developer badge?
Create an active Discord bot that has executed a slash command within the last 30 days and claim it at discord.com/developers/active-developer.
What is the public_flags field in Discord API?
public_flags is a bitfield integer on the user object indicating which public badges are active on their profile.
Can normal users still get the Early Supporter badge?
No. The Early Supporter badge was exclusively awarded to users who supported Discord Nitro prior to October 10, 2018.
What is the Bug Hunter badge?
The Bug Hunter badge is awarded to members of the official Discord Testers community who find and report verified client vulnerabilities and bugs.
What is public_flags on a Discord account?
A bitfield where each bit corresponds to a badge. Decoding it lists the badges an account holds.
Which Discord badges can still be earned?
HypeSquad house badges, Active Developer, and Bug Hunter remain obtainable. Early Supporter and several partner badges are retired.
Can badges be faked?
Not in the official client. Modified clients and browser extensions can display badges locally, but nobody else sees them.
