Vanity URL Rules & Availability

How vanity invite URLs are claimed and lost
A vanity invite is the discord.gg slug a server can claim at Boost Level 3, which requires 14 active boosts. That threshold is the reason short, memorable slugs are so scarce: only servers sustaining a significant monthly boost commitment can hold one at all, and the pool of claimed slugs has been accumulating since the feature launched.
Losing the level loses the vanity immediately. Unlike most boost perks, which persist for roughly 72 hours after dropping below the threshold, a vanity URL is released at once. Discord then holds the slug for 30 days before it becomes available to other servers, which is a genuine risk for a community that has printed the link anywhere permanent.
Slug rules are straightforward but restrictive. Slugs are case-insensitive, limited in the characters they accept, and cannot duplicate an existing one anywhere on the platform. Because availability is global rather than per-server, checking before you commit to reaching Level 3 is worth doing, and having a second and third choice ready is sensible.
